I was a Frank Gore owner until this week. Now my workhorse RB1 is out for the season. Now what? I immediately picked up Brian Westbrook after his stellar performance, but I'm not sure about this pick-up. I currently own Brandon Jacobs too. So, I ask the wise and all-knowing Fixer....who has more value going forward with the playoffs on the way? I need two RBs.
1. Maurice Morris
2. Brandon Jacobs
3. Chris Ivory
4. Brian Westbrook
5. Anthony Dixon
6. Toby Gerhart
7. Jonathan Stewart
Also, are you still a big believer in wideout James Jones from the Packers?
As always thanks for any insight you can provide. Your wisdom has helped me before and is much appreciated.
You ain't the only one hurtin'. Had Gore in two myself. We should've known better.
As for Westbrook, not a believer. Way past his prime. Ain't built to carry the load. If Singletary wants to get cute and run the old man out there like he did last week, Westbrook'll be looking at early retirement. Count on it. PPR, he's still worth something. Standard, gimme Dixon. Smart money says he's special against the 'Hawks in Week 14. I like his chances against St. Louis in Week 16, too. Kid's strong. He'll impress. Mark my words.
Here's how I got 'em rest of the way: Dixon, Ivory, Stew, Jacobs, Westbrook, Morris, Gerhart. Here's how I got 'em this week: Gerhart (if AP don't play), Ivory, Stew, Jacobs, Dixon, Westbrook, Morris.
What's more important? This Sunday or the playoffs? Up to you, Scotty boy.
By the way, the Fixer's a big fan of James Jones. I'll love him more once Driver gets the axe.
Wise & All-Knowing
Would you start Matt Ryan or Sam Bradford this week? Little worried about Ryan being on the road, and Tampa Bay has been pretty good against the pass though mostly against mediocre teams at best as of late.
Also, I already started Arian Foster and I can't decide between Michael Turner or Jamaal Charles. What do you think? Would you consider that I should maybe only start one Atlanta player this week or does that not matter in your eyes.
Easier than you think, Slug. Ryan's got history with the Bucs. It ain't pretty. Cards are soft. Put me in Sam's camp.
Love Charles but gotta go with Turner. Bucs can't stop anyone's ground game. Snelling's out, too. 25-30 touches guaranteed. Might be top play of the week.
By the way ... you might want to re-think this whole name thing. Not a good look, son. Not a good look at all.
First off, thanks for the advice a few weeks back. Unfortunately, no
one bit on my (your!) trade requests, but I was able to make some
moves on the waiver wire accordingly and it seems to be helping me out.
Here's my roster as I'm heading into the playoffs (standard league, QB,
two RB, three WR,TE, K, DEF):
QB: Kyle Orton, Ryan Fitzpatrick
RB: Michael Turner, Jahvid Best, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Beanie Wells
WR: Miles Austin, Jeremy Maclin, Jabar Gaffney, Danny Amendola, James Jones
TE: Jacob Tamme, Zach Miller(Oak)
K: Nick Folk
With players like Chris Ivory, Ricky Williams, Keiland Williams, Brian Westbrook,
Jacoby Ford, Ben Obomanu, Deion Branch, Davone Bess, Blair White available, should I make any
moves going into the playoffs, or am I just overthinking things?
Also, already looking ahead to next year (crazy, I know, but still I'm
a fantasy virgin that's addicted now), we are a two-keeper league (with
no penalty) and I'm already stressing about the future. Right now, are
there actually two players on my roster worth keeping? (I don't have a
third round pick next year, and was thinking about picking up Romo again
and keeping him just to make up for the lack of a pick.)
Any and all help is much appreciated.
First off, get yourself a a new boot. Folk's one bad kick away from unemployment, son. Never trust a guy who hits the uprights on PATs.
Solid squad for a virgin. A little weak at wideout, big dropoff at RB after Turner, but I think you can manage. Orton/Fitz a nice combo - play the matchups there.
I know you didn't ask about this week, but I'm gonna tell you anyway because it involves an add. Drop Beanie, grab Ivory. Ivory's a play against Cincy with Thomas still on the outs. Trust me, you want no part of Best, and Green-Ellis gets the Jets. No thanks.
Drop Amendola and grab White. White's another start this week with Collie looking iffy. Throw him out there with Austin and Maclin.
The Ford kid's got some upside. Make that add, drop Gaffney. My sources tell me Ford's a starter now. I like Bess, but we're not talking PPR. He's off the table. Obomanu's a nice piece, but not as nice with Mike Williams back in the fold.
Ditch the backup tight end. Waste of a roster spot. Ride Tamme, Miller's damaged goods for '10. Grab Westbrook with the extra slot.
Turner and Austin look like keepers to me, especially with no penalty. I like Romo next year, but you can grab a QB in the draft. Guys like Turner/Austin won't be around.
Good luck, kiddo.
