In the matchup of the No. 1 seed versus the No. 4 seed, we saw quite the battle. With the first pick of the second round, I landed Tom Brady, and he and Jay Cutler combined for 58.15 points on my behalf. However, my team received dud performances from players like Mike Wallace, Marshawn Lynch and Johnny Knox.
As the No. 4 seed, Paul Bourdett received a poor performance from Joe Flacco and a middling effort from Ben Roethlisberger. He was able to overcome the lackluster QB play with good performances from Rashard Mendenhall, Shonn Greene, Mike Williams and Hines Ward. Who came out on top?
When the final gun sounded, I was lucky to escape from the game with a 92.75-89.85 win. Thank you, Todd Heap and Deion Branch.
Our other semi-final matchup was a runaway affair. Sean Lalley was able to duplicate my QBs' big performances with a huge effort from Aaron Rodgers and a great game from Mark Sanchez. Unlike my team, Sean's group earned high marks across the board, with good efforts from Matt Forte, Roddy White, LaDainian Tomlinson, Santonio Holmes and Greg Jennings. Ryan Dembinsky didn't stand a chance, especially without much from Matt Ryan, Anquan Boldin and Dustin Keller. Final score: Sean 110.3, Ryan 69.3.
After the dust settled, Sean was able to keep as many as six of his players, as most of his team lived to play another day. He opted to keep them all, so he went into the two-team championship draft with Aaron Rodgers, Mark Sanchez, Matt Forte, LaDainian Tomlinson, Santonio Holmes and Greg Jennings in tow. He'd be looking to add one more flex player and a TE to his team.
On my end, I only had three players eligible to be kept: Jay Cutler, Mike Wallace and Johnny Knox. I threw Cutler back into the pool and kept the two receivers.
Sean drew the first pick of the final draft and nabbed Rashard Mendenhall for his other flex spot. After I took Greg Olsen to play tight end, Sean opted for Heath Miller at the position. All that was left was for me to fill out my team. You can see the final matchup below.
QBs Aaron Rodgers, Mark Sanchez
RB Matt Forte
WRs Greg Jennings, Santonio Holmes
TE Heath Miller
FLs Rashard Mendenhall, LaDainian Tomlinson
QBs Ben Roethlisberger, Jay Cutler
RB Shonn Greene
WRs Mike Wallace, Johnny Knox
TE Greg Olsen
FLs Hines Ward, Donald Driver
This one could get ugly. Sean has the clear advantage heading into the FanHouse Playoff Championship, but I'll do my best to make it a game. Good luck to him, and thanks for playing along amongst your friends!
