Victor Wanyama is possibly the hottest prospect in today's soccer industry. He is a calm player who brings a strong presence to the field. He has immense talent and has the potential to become one of the top midfielders in the world.
Victor Wanyama was born on 25 June 1991 in the African country of Kenya. From an early age it was clear that Wanyama had a talent that soccer players only dream of. His style of play fits into most teams these days if not every team.
He is a defensive midfielder who also plays center back. He is not only a great tackler; he can play great soccer with superb composure as well.
His large stature and presence on the field intimidates other players. His worth ethic is second to none. You can clearly see from his performances that there is only one thing on his mind: winning.
Wanyama played for his High School Kamukunj. They usually have a successful soccer team. He played for a top youth academy in Kenya for three years. He also joined the Kenyan Premier League clubs Nairobi City Stars and AFC Leopards.
In 2007 he joined Allsvenskan club Helsingborg. His older brother also played for this team but moved to top Serie A team, Parma.
After playing with Helsingborg, Victor decided to move back to Kenya.
Victor had a trial for Kenyan team Berrschot AC in which he was successful. He then put pen to paper on a four-year contract in 2008.
He was the top player at Beerschot, and, in the Summer of 2010, the Scottish giants, Celtic, attempted to sign him. However, Beerschot would not allow him to leave.
In that same summer a top Russian club, CSKA Moscow, also tried to sign Victor Wanyama, and again were unsuccessful. His current team would not allow their star player to leave.
This all changed during the Summer of 2011. On July 9th, Celtic put in another bid and this time were successful. This made Wanyama the first ever Kenyan to play in the SPL!
He kicked off well with the fans by choosing the number 67 jersey in honor of the famous champion Celtic team of 1967, nicknamed the "Lisbon Lions."

There were speculations that Wanyama wanted away from Celtic as they could not meet his wage demands in 2012. Celtic were keen to keep the Kenyan as long as they could, however.
Wanyama then came out and stated that he wanted to stay, saying that the club had become his family.
He then played a key role in the game against Spanish giants, Barcelona, in the Champions League. Celtic won 2-1, and Wanyama scored the first goal! He was awarded man of the match for his great performance in easily shutting down the great Xavi.
His performances in the Champions League were outstanding. He played against top teams, and easily marked top players.
Wanyama is now one of the hottest prospects. He has caught the interest of great teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona.
He is a fans favorite, and he loves the club. He never fails to give his very best performance for Celtic when he enters the stadium.
